1. Could you please introduce yourself a little bit?

Trả lời:

I’m An, I just graduated from National University of Civil Engineering, majoring in civil engineering. I am passionate about building things since I was a kid. That’s why I decided to choose “construction” as my major. Then, I always do everything carefully because I highly appreciate the accuracy. I’m a very detailed and careful person. I always pay a lot of attention to my work to avoid any unexpected mistakes.

2. Tell us about your previous work experience?

Trả lời:

In my last job, I made regular progress reports. I also considered unplanned cost to make sure we never go over budget. And I was in charge of discussing the materials with the contractor, and I would check all the materials for the job such as the concrete, the putlog, the cement, the brick, and the scaffolding.

3. What kind of personality traits do you need to be a successful construction engineer?

Trả lời:

A successful engineer needs to be a patient, disciplined and flexible. You may feel frustrated when it comes to many deadlines, especially some unexpected delays can happen. But the job is extremely rewarding, and it takes time to be outstanding in the construction field. Engineers need to truly understand the requirements of the job. 

4. What are your expectations if you are officially employed in our company?

Trả lời:

In the next 5 years I would like to take on a management role. For the sake of that, I will try to work to the fullest from the beginning to gain experience, be ready to run group projects if there is a chance to develop my leadership skills and plan to take part in leadership workshops to know more about management. However, what I need is to fulfill my responsibilities from your company first.

➥Tình huống: Site Meeting and Report. (Cuộc họp công trường và báo cáo).

Manager: Mr. David

Engineer: John Mr.

Mr. David: John, we will have a weekly meeting every Monday, starting at 9 a.m. Please make reports for the meeting.

John: Yes sir. Where will the meeting take place?

Mr. David: At the contractor’s site office. We will check work progress to adjust the program for the coming week.

John: I got it. At least two days before the weekly meeting, I will submit to you any problems to be discussed beyond everyday works on site.

Mr. David: For daily works, you will submit a daily report at 10 a.m. the following day. Concerning report forms please work with me. I’ll give you all the necessary forms.

John: OK, Mr. David. I will work with you right after the meeting, if you are available.

Mr. David: No problem.

John:  Thank you.

2. Với đồng nghiệp

➥Tình huống: A conversation between two engineers. (Cuộc hội thoại giữa 2 kỹ sư John and James tại công trường).

James: Hello John. How are you?

John: Good. How about you?

James: Great! I’m working on a new project.

John: Any problems regarding the progress, the materials and the cost?

Jame: The speed of the program is punctual; however we lack some equipment because of the slow delivery from materials and equipment store.

John: How did you deal with it?

James:  I’ve pushed them already and I hope that they will be delivered on time.

John: I hope so. I’m going to supervise the site over there. Catch you later.

James: Bye. See you.

3. Với khách hàng

➥Tình huống: Khách hàng đến công trường để nắm bắt tiến độ.

John: Good morning Mr Robbie

Mr Robbie: Good morning. How’s everything?

John: Everything’s fine. How’s your work?

Mr Robbie: Very well, John.. I expect the building will be completed at the end of next month, on 30 November. How do you think?

John: We are trying to complete before the deadline, sir. Of course, I must supervise the building site every day.

Mr Robbie: Thanks. Can you share about the resource of the building?.

John:.More resources are being allocated to the building, so surely it will finish punctually and efficiently.

Mr Robbie: Wonderful. I gotta go now.

John: Yes. See you later.

Mr Robbie: Bye then.
